# Video Meetings

## Why Video?

When it comes to replicating face-to-face interaction and fostering a sense of connection over distance, video meetings are the clear winner. Video meetings transcend physical limitations, bringing people together in a way that feels natural and familiar.

While that is an experience worth pursuing, today's social media often falls short of true social interaction. That's why we created video meetings – to capture the best aspects of both online and offline communication: the ease and convenience of online interaction combined with the real-time engagement of in-person meetings.

## How to Start a Meeting

Modak works just as other video meeting platforms. You can create a room, invite friends, or get invited to join the room.

The major features supported are the following:

* Instantly open a video meeting room
* Invite others, or get invited to join the Modak meeting room with a single URL
* Turn on/off your camera or mic
* Virtual background
* Screen sharing

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://modak.gitbook.io/modak-docs/features/video-meetings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
